Life has been a whirlwind these days on the homestead. It is hard to believe that November is already halfway through. Before we know it, Christmas will have come and gone.
The chickens seem to be adjusting to the colder weather, although it will be in the 20’s for the next few mornings and some of the girls haven’t been in that cold of weather yet. Chickens tend to do ok in cold weather as long as it is cold and dry, not cold and wet. Their combs and waddles can get frostbite in cold and wet conditions.
Houidini is doing fabulous after his surgery. He is no longer torturing Doyle and seems to have calmed down a bit. They stay quite toasty cuddled up together in their house full of hay.
Oliver has been a handful per usual! He is such a stubborn cuddle-bug. If he is not touching me in some way, he throws a complete temper tantrum. I bought him some hidden treat toys to keep him entertained, so stay tuned later today on Facebook to watch the video of him figuring them out!
I’ve neglected my fall garden unfortunately, although some of the crops have persevered.
My parents close on their house in a week, they have been super busy packing and moving to their rental house. Hopefully, in early 2014 we will get things moving on buying the farm land. Gabe and I are placing our homestead on the market soon as well, so we are hopeful that the right folks will come along and fall in love with it like we did.
I hope all is well and warm on your homestead!
Until next time…
